Planning your display area

It is important you consider carefully where you will set your fireworks up and what surrounds them. Fireworks have 2 different safety distances, 5 metres (Category 2) and 25 metres (Category 3).
You should ensure that a minimum of those distances is available from the firing point to the nearest member of audience.
Where possible place fireworks behind a wall, bricks, or barrier. Thus there is a physical obstruction between the fireworks the the audience.
For larger displays we recommend reading HSG124 - the official HSE guide on planning a firework display.
